- About galerie 10

Galerie 10 (founded by Jaap Sleper, 1972) shows solo exhibitions of contemporary (inter-) national art. The gallery’s objective is to support new developments in art by creating space for the development of artists and their, more often socially critical work.

The gallery has the explicit ambition to become a ground breaking gallery. We amplify the boundaries of the art by organizing alternative art fairs and creating exhibition places for young talents in architectural places. Under the name Blue Episode Foundation talented artists generate site-specific work answering to the question:  How would you react to an architectural space that is being transformed by renovation or rebuild?

Alternative art fairs Re:Amsterdam / Re:Rotterdam are a ‘reply’ to certain practices within the art. It is a re-ordering of the art fair, market and the establishments surrounding them. A re-focusing. The side events that act as a counter-point to other more established events. Bringing vitality and daring back into the fold.

Galerie 10 explores the boundaries of the dialogue; with as a result art within the context of a gallery, fair or architectural space.

- About Blue Episode

At any moment, there are hundreds of buildings under construction, for longer or shorter periods of time. A building under construction is looked upon as being a void, a non-existent place, in transformation between the already changed ‘old’ and the not-yet ‘new’.

Blue Episode Foundation approaches visual artists with the question: How would you react to an architectural space that is being transformed by renovation or rebuild? In a series of exhibitions, artists attempt to answer this question by generating new site-specific work. Beside that are all the artists, that will be represented, young talents. We will create places for them to reach a large public. The art is for everyone and anyone.
